Yes it is and its the best place to eat the food is great
It's worth the trip :)
Yep, was there a week ago...
They are open 11-7.
Sadly. They would make a lot more money (at least from me) if they took credit cards.
No Closed
The food is great. Love going there. I still chuckle over the company's pet. For me it's also a nice motorcycle ride to get there. It's become almost a yearly tradition
The chicken was great, of course with the famous Curtis BBQ saus.
Great as usual, we've been coming here for years. Always worth a trip.
Curtis B-B-Q is an open air cookery with picnic tables. Rusting machinery and lots of dogs helps make a memorable lunch stop. If the food were only better, this place would be fantastic. Unfortunately, the meats (pork & chicken) were only so-so as were the side dishes. A large parking lot and easy access to I-91 north and southbound makes it an easy stopping place. Cash only and the toilets are Port-a-Johns.
Great food.. nice place to ride the bike to
Food was great as was the place!
Stopped by on the way to our destination and was treated very rudely. There was no line. We asked politely where to order and was directed to bus window where we awkwardly waited for service. After being ignored for while we left and went to Putney Diner where we ate some amazing food.
The most delicious bbq hands down!
They are extremely friendly here! my husband has been coming since he was little, and he's in love with the tangy sauce. Curtis is very friendly and welcoming and remembers him even though he hasn't been there in years.
If you want to experience BBQ the way it was intended, come to Curtis's!! The ribs were 'fall off the bone tender' and the chicken was perfectly cooked. We fed a family of 3 with the Family Pig Out meal and took some home. Talking to Mr. Curtis was the cherry on top. He was happy to chat with us, introducing his dogs and raving about his pig at home. He seems to be in his happiest place at the BBQ, and his family works next to him. It isn't fine dining, but it is 5 star eating.
TERRIBLE! Is the word that best describes this place. A simple bbq 1/4. Chicken thigh and leg with baked potato meal could not be executed. It was completely awful. I have wasted my time, and my $20. My suspicions were raised about the quality of my meal when I saw the run-down building. But I still wanted to give them a try and it was NO GOOD! Please dont waste your time here. Thanks Curtis for a dried out chicken and burnt up potato!!
Excellent food slow service lot of waiting time
This is the best barbecue in New England. The ribs always fall right off the bone, and the juices of the smokey meat mixed with their tangy sauce is the epitome of delicious barbecue flavor, and I have yet to find anywhere that even comes close to being this good.
Due to the new Covid-19 requirements, service was slow, and they were out of some things. But the slab of ribs, the baked beans and corn bread were all fine! I am baffled that, given the amount of outdoor space available, they were only allowed to have 6 picnic tables open.
Awesome! Food was amazing, selection amazing, atmosphere amazing. Will 100% be coming back here!
What a waste of time. Stood in line for over an hour to find out that they were out of EVERYTHING at 5:45, and were supposed to be open until 7. The little vit of food we had tasted like it was store bought. Not impressed and won't go back. If you are used to what Curtis used to be, keep your memories and don't go.
Great place to eat. Definitely a unique experience !
Their pulled pork was delicious. Attendant was nice...its an outdoor spot with no inside seating just some picnic benches. Will definitely be back.
Good food. Can be very busy at times, but if you are in the area, check out this place for some good bbq, especially the chicken
Awesome food, and excellent atmosphere. It's been a while since I've been there, but great flavor is hard to forget. On a personal note, I wouldn't recommend wearing any heavy perfumes, since my ex girlfriends son sprayed his brother with perfume, so I sprayed him. It attracted hornets
Love the ribs. Wish they had brisket too, but the BBQ sauce makes it all worth it
Curtis's bbq is iconic but the food was just fair. Perhaps because it was close to closing. Chicken was very dry, ribs were ok, bbq was pretty vinegary. Potato salad and baked beans were amazing. Pulled pork was good. Ambience is fun and eclectic
We drive for two hours to get there and would drive two more, great food and very reasonable prices and great atmosphere. Highly recommend
Was worth the drive. Smoked flavour in the chicken is out of this world.
We actually didn't even end up eating there. Absolutely filthy conditions. They had dogs within a foot of where they were cooking and the cooks' clothes were visibly covered in dirt. We took the extra time to go to Top of the Hill, which was excellent.
Definitely an off-day. I can understand running out of things, you get a busy rush, I get it. What I can't understand is why, what you do have left, is either dry or tasteless. I have never had baked beans where the only flavor was the taste of "burnt". And $3.50 for a tiny, commercially made, cellophane wrapped, smaller than a deck of cards, piece of cornbread. Not sure if I'll make the special trip up there again. And no, Curtis was not there.
Been doing his BBQ since the 1970's. If you find better. . . .let me know.
Great lunch stop off on any trip. We were looking for food and weren't sure we'd find anything in the area. Luckily we timed that search perfectly. You can load up on some delicious ribs and all sorts of sides for cheap. Really tender, great vinegar based sauce too. Not sure all of it was all that fresh but on a nice day when you're just looking for something quick, filling and tasty this is the spot. Load up and grab a park bench.
Old school BBQ done right. It sure isn't fancy but it is good
The best bbq in new england. A small roadside stand. The flavor and food is out of this world. You will not be disappointed with your food.
Excellent pulled pork and Pork Ribs. A small off the road place in an old bus but a great destination place for some good home cooking. Bring cash and enjoy the low key and laid back atmosphere, all outside.
Great BBQ! Been there for 42 or so years. Worth the trip! Check the hours and days they are open before you go..
Best ribs, chicken, and potatoe salad. Open grill so if a lot of peoppe come you might have to wait. Plenty of space to eat and park. Co-Op across the street sells their BBQ sauce. Always stop here when I can and plan my schedule around it.
Great ribs! Only one guy working 6/21...waited 1.5 hrs in line
Always a great meal at the Blue Bus!
We stopped here on our way passing through because the idea of two converted buses turned into a BBQ joint peaked my interest and the reviews made me believe this was going to be a delicious hidden treasure. How wrong I was. I ordered the pulled pork platter with baked beans and macaroni salad. The pulled pork was actually small cubes of pork (mostly fat) that have a very small amount of sauce drizzled on top. The baked beans had no flavor and were so dry I'm not sure how they even managed that. The macaroni salad was store bought, and not the good kind either. Just an overall let down.
Been eating a Curtis' for 25+ years and I'm never disappointed. In the mood for ribs? Don't bother going anywhere else... Curtis' ribs are the best in the area.
Have been here since I was a child. Very unique atmosphere and great authentic BBQ! Extremely friendly staff as well! Must try. Have always stopped by on road trips.
Yummy BBQ, for sure. There was even some live music. Other reviews led me to believe it was the best in the world. That's a bit of a stretch, but it is darn good nonetheless. Definitely add the extra rib to any meal, it was oversized and delicious.
I love Curtis I'm from Georgia just like Curtis. So it brings me back to home. And he cooks out on a pit you order your food at the blue bus.
Interesting little place. Not very clean. Food was over cooked and very pricey. Dogs and cats running throughout the cooking area. I will give it another try buy no promises.
This a Putney staple!!! The food was excellent and the corn muffin was so delicious. Best bbq place in town.
Curtis has been barbecuing for more than forty years, but his methods take perfectly good pork and make it flavorless. The place is charming and quaint with a very authentic feel, but as someone from the Southwest I'm shocked that anyone could call this BBQ the best they've ever had. BBQ gets its flavor from the slow cooking process and the addition of flavorful rubs or sauces, plus the extra smoke flavor that certain types of wood add. Curtis appears to put meat over his coals without adding anything to it and uses bland woods for fuel that add no flavor. The result is some of the most dried out pork I've ever tasted. Sometimes bad BBQ can be somewhat rescued by good sauce, but the vinegar-heavy ketchup-flavored sauce here doesn't do the trick. If you find yourself here despite these warnings, I do recommend the fully loaded stuffed potato. You can't beat a potato cooked over a fire pit, and the sour cream helps mask the dried out pork.
Good place they don't push for many years has gone here off and on throughout the years whenever I'm in the area some of the best Southern BBQ you'll have but up north?
Ribs were like boot leather. The place is filthy. I can't believe health department haven't closed them down.
Always great thank you Curtis
Menu was a little lacking due to COVID-19 but the ribs were great!
The food was excellent! The prices were pretty average. It was a neat experience.
Showed up at 1pm to be told we have no meat ready besides chicken. I didn't drive all the way here just for chicken. Maybe better planning is in order
First impressions are lasting ones and I absolutely loved the BBQ. As a matter of fact I could not eat it all and packed up the rest for a late night snack at home after a long day of sightseeing in the VT and NH back roads. It’s also a great place setup for social distancing. I was made aware of Curtis BBQ watching “the food network” and based on the show it is a rustic outdoor dining experience. I had the rack of ribs, coleslaw, cucumber salad and yams. I highly recommend Curtis All American BBQ to anyone looking for authentic, home style, outdoor and southern cooking. I saved it as one of my favorites and hope you will enjoy the experience as much as I did. True American Treasure providing great food. Enjoy!
